Cool Stars 14 - Submitted Abstract # 209 This version created on 05 October 2006 Theoretical Perspectives on Planet Formation Models Gregory Laughlin, University of California at Santa Cruz In this talk, I'll review our current theoretical understanding of the theory of planet formation. Specific topics to be discussed include (1) the status of the core accretion and gravitational instability models for giant planet formation, (2) how observational information, including transits, AO imaging, and radial velocity surveys are affecting planet formation theory, (3) testable predictions from planet formation theory, and (4) the most pressing unsolved issues. ----------------------------------
