Cool Stars 14 - Submitted Abstract # 80 This version created on 05 October 2006 A near infrared transit survey with the UKIRT Wide Field Camera David Pinfield, University of Hertfordshire Simon Hodgkin, Institute of Astronomy, Cambridge Phil Lucas, University of Hertfordshire Hugh Jones, University of Hertfordshire Suzanne Aigrain, Institute of Astronomy, Cambridge Jonathan Irwin, Institute of Astronomy, Cambridge Ignas Snellen, Grenoble, Leiden James Jenkin, University of Hertfordshire Estelle Moraux, Grenoble, Leiden Mike Irwin, Institute of Astronomy, Cambridge James Lloyd, Cornell We describe a near infrared transit survey that is being carried out with the UKIRT Wide Field Camera. One of the main aims of this survey is to search for transiting companions at wavelengths where lower mass dwarfs (M and L types) are brighter. Such dwarfs are significantly smaller than F-K stars, and a near infrared transit survey thus has the potential to find smaller (even rocky planet) companions. Here we report of the status of the survey to date, and discuss future prospects. ----------------------------------
