Griffith Observatory Field Trip:Workshop participants are invited to join a guided excursion to the historic Griffith Observatory on the afternoon of Wednesday 28 October. The Observatory is located in the nearby Griffith Park overlooking the LA basin. It hosts a leading-edge technology planetarium dome, and an extensive collection of astronomical exhibits, including the largest ever astronomical image.Please indicate your interest in the excursion at the workshop registration page. Opening Reception and Check-in:A conference reception and registration will be held on Sunday, 25 October at 5:00-7:00pm in the Hilton Arcade, in front of the International Ballroom.Hilton Hotel meeting rooms map Conference Banquet:The Spitzer 2009 Conference Banquet is being held on Tuesday, 27 October starting at 6:00pm at Pasadena's trendy Old Town restaurant, Twin Palms. With it's namesake of two huge, 100-year-old palm tress and white parachute canopy over the patio, the atmosphere is a one-of-a-kind California experience. The restaurant has played host to many star-studded-after-parties, like the 2004 and 2005 People's Choice Awards, the 1997 post-Emmy Awards, and now Spitzer's 2009 Conference!The Banquet is included in your registration fee. Guests are an additional $55.00 each. Please choose one of the following entrees on your registration form:
Getting there: The restaurant is approximately 1/2 mile from the Hilton. For directions please see this map Parking: Should you drive, there is a public parking lot located right next to Twin Palms at 45 S. DeLacey between Colorado and Green. The first 90 minutes are free, and then the fee is $4/hour.
